Attention Neighbors:
At last month's CBC meeting there was a motion to
move $47,000 of community policing money to community
organizing salary. The motion was tabled because no
one was there to address serious concerns about it.
Decision like this should have lots of public
comment. Do you care what happens with this money?
Here are three ways to provide input:
1) CBC meeting 7PM Wed March 12th at Matthews Park.

on-line.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at 1:00 PM, Mayor Rybak will announce his =
planned budget cuts. One of these involves the cutback or elimination of =
the CCP/SAFE program. The City Council will vote on his recommendations =
within a week.
We urge you to call, fax or email Mayor Rybak and Councilpersons Zerby =
and Schiff.
CCP/SAFE is the only conduit citizens have to the police department and =
fill valuable roles. McGruff House, Sex Offender notification, crime =
alerts and block club training are just a part of what they do. Over the =
past decade, our SAFE guys have helped our part of north central Seward =
with issues of rape, arson, burglary, robbery, pipe bombs, racial hate =
crimes, animal mutilation, nuisance properties, and problems relating to =
narcotics, weapons and gangs.
Their assistance has been invaluable and we urge you to voice your =
concern over cut-back or elimination of this program.
