I am dissatisfied with the status of afordable housing (specifically for =
apartment dwellers) in the
Seward neighborhood. If apartment buildings are not going to be =
maintained in a healthy manner,
and if management does not take any responsibility for their buildings, =
especially after hours,
then, I believe, those buildings should either be sold or torn down. =
Our disabled citizens,
many who have worked for years at sub-standard jobs, do not need to live =
in apartment buildings
with mice, cockroaches and be told there is no money to make necessary =
repairs in their
individual apartments. =20
=20
I am open to suggestions about how to deal with these kinds of problems =
and I am growing quite
weary from hearing some people say: "you can't fight the government." =
(referring to those individuals with subsidized apartments.)

Last night I heard on the news that the McKnight Foundation opened up =
more money for renovating
existing buildings and building more new afordable housing. Does =
anybody know if any of the apartment
buildings in Seward will benefit from this award? If I had the =
knowledge, time, and expertise, I'd be pounding on every door to get =
grants and monetary awards for the Seward neighborhood. =20
