See the "Building Lifelong Connections" conference web site at www.lifelongconnections.ca. The Canadian National Adoption Awards will be presented to those who have made a significant impact in the adoption constellation. Send nominations no later than May 15, 2004 to: Adoption Council of Canada, 210-211 Bronson Ave., Ottawa (ON) K1R 6H5, 1-888-54-ADOPT, acc@adoption.ca. Include the award category, contact information of the person/organization submitting the nomination, nominee's contact information and a one-page outline of why the nominee deserves the award. The categories are: * H. David Kirk Award -- For excellence in research and/or teaching in adoption and outstanding contribution to our understanding of adoption kinship. * Victoria Leach Award -- For lengthy and outstanding services to adptive families and the adoption community. * Helen Allen Award -- For exemplary promotion of adoption, and advocacy for children who wait for families here and abroad. * Joy McPhail Award -- For persons making an outstanding contribution in the area of legislative reform . * Adoption Activist Awards -- Presented to adopted persons, adoptive parents, adoption professionals, birth parents, media persons, public officials and/or members of the public who have had significant positive impact on adoption in any part of Canada. Based on the theme "Building Lifelong Connections: Permanency Options for Children and Families", the 2004 conference supports the belief that every child deserves a permanent family and promotes awareness of adoption and other permanency options.
