From dfledfoundation-announce at communityforum.net Thu Dec 6 09:02:59 2007 From: dfledfoundation-announce at communityforum.net (dfledfoundation-announce@communityforum.net) Date: Thu Dec 6 09:04:06 2007 Subject: [DFLEF] We need your help Message-ID: <47580F23.5080702@scheie.homedns.org> Dear Friend, It's that time again---holiday letters and fund raising appeals. You have been receiving email notices of our discussion groups and other events. You know that the* DFL Education Foundation discusses issues---the meat of politics---and helps train future political leaders and activists. * 2007 has been a good year for us, but costly. That's why we need your help. *A contribution now would assist us planning and budgeting for 2008. And, if you itemize on your taxes, you get a tax deduction too. * * * Make your check payable to: DFL Education Foundation. Send it to: Brian Hanninen, Treasurer, 2213 Milwaukee Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55404. * * *OR: go to our website at www.dfleducationfoundation.org to make an on-line contribution. * * * *Our Sunday history series this year was very successful. * Our aim was to give young activists a sense of political history. With each session drawing a hundred or more people, the series also turned out to be a time of reflection and analysis for activists of the past. *We taped the presentations so if you're interested you can order DVDs of some or all of the sessions from our website. * *We are making a difference.* Some of our discussion leaders get media attention; others with new thoughts or ideas are ahead of the times. We bring thoughtful new people and organizations to public attention. *We now tape our Stone Arch Group discussions. To hear them, go to the Podcast section of our website at www.dfleducationfoundation.org . * *We helped put the issue of early childhood education on the political map.* Now even national candidates are talking about it. *Our new Education Achievement Gap Committee* is drawing 40-50 people to each of its sessions. If you want to get notices of its meetings, let us know. Our younger board members are *planning an after-work Issues Social Hour* and looking for a convenient site or two. If you live or work in or near downtown and are interested in an after-work group, let us know. We are non-partisan, liberal and progressive. We look to the future. We take no formal positions and do not lobby. But our work costs money, even though we use email often. *We** rely on people like you to support the foundation's efforts*. * * * * *Happy Holidays! Any and every contribution will be greatly appreciated and used well. * Donald M. Fraser, Chairman; Carol Flynn, President; /Board members:/ Barbara Allivato, Barbara Bearman, John Farrell, Arvonne Fraser, Koryne Horbal, Brian Hanninen, /Treasurer;/ Luke Kuhl, Dorothy Leathers, Dwaine Lindberg, Matt Little, Kathy O'Brien, Vici Oshiro, Don Ostrom, Todd Otis, Pam Rykken, Susan Segal, Maura Shuttleworth, Chris Thierfelder, Christina Wessel, Jeremy Wieland, /Secretary.
