YOUTH PROGRAMS:
EARL BAKKEN SCIENCE PROGRAM
Spots still available for the Fall Session.  Register now and explore
the exciting world of science and invention, by becoming an inventor!
Classes meet every Saturday for six weeks.
Fall Session:  October 11 - November 15, 2003.

WIZARD WORKSHOPS
Scout Leaders - Youth Organizers - Kids & Families!
Sign up for an energizing workshop where you'll
transform common supplies and ingredients to make your hair
stand on end, discover magnetism of the ancients, become a
human battery, or make your own illuminated wand!
Youth age 9 - 13
Tuesday and Thursday evenings or selected Saturdays.
$10/youth - Group discount of $2 off / youth with group of ten or more.

FIELD TRIPS
Teachers - Register now for high quality, hands-on science workshops
for school groups in grades 4 through 6, on static electricity,
batteries, magnetism or guided tours of the Bakken exhibits.
Field trip are scheduled Tuesdays - Fridays, through June 2004.

New Field Trip for High School Students!
The Bakken invites you and your students (grades 9-12) to join us in
exploring the connections between science, history, literature and
ethics through a new field trip called Mary Shelley - Creator of
Frankenstein.
Mary Shelley Field Trips may be scheduled between 10am and 5pm,
Tuesday through Friday, as available.  For more information, or to

The Bakken celebrates "Mad Scientists" throughout Oct.
Experiment in our Electric Laboratory!
Special Guest: Mad Science, Oct. 4, 11:30am and 1:30pm!

Every Saturday in October enjoy hands-on activities including...
- It's Alive! Use wires and circuits to create your own Frankenstein!
- Ever wanted to be a Mad Scientist? Up for a challenge?
Use our supplies to create your own creature or contraption.
- A ladder you don't climb, and a belt that makes things glow?
Experience our electrically charged demonstration table!
- Experiment with batteries, wires and more to make motors run,
bulbs light up, buzzers beep and more in this creative activity! =20

EXHIBIT OPENING
"Geeks, Mavericks & Mad Scientists: Images and Reality"
Opening event October 4, 2003 from 10am - 5pm.
Wild hair, goofy glasses, secret laboratories, and mysterious
experiments! This newest exhibit provides a fun way to examine the
validity and history of these images of scientists, and what role they
play in our culture. This exhibit runs through October 2004.
