FAMILY SCIENCE SATURDAYS
April Family Science Saturdays ~ Planet Preservation
The Bakken celebrates "Planet Preservation" in its Family Science =
Saturday program throughout April. Each Saturday during April visitors =
can explore earth science and discover how to be kind to our planet with =
fun, educational demonstrations and hands-on activities! It's a New =
Adventure in Science Every Saturday!
Special Family Science Saturday Activities include:
Apr. 5 Junkyard Treasures! Create a toy or sculpture out of odds & =
ends. 11am-3pm, Mini Be-Kind-to-Our-Planet Expo, learn about organic =
farming, alternate power sources and much more.
Apr. 12 11:30am & 1:30pm, Use it Again/Tell it Again - Get ready for =
Earth Day with Key of See Storytellers, Larry Johnson & Elaine Wynne.
Marcy Open School students perform as Scientists from the Past.
Apr. 19 FREE Blue Sky Guide to the first 50 families - Courtesy of =
Medtronic, Inc.
11:30am & 1:30pm, Junkyard Symphony performances. Franklin Middle School =
students make Funk from Junk.
Make a simple charcoal water filter or take a ride and power small =
appliances with your own muscle power!
Apr. 26 Supermarket Showdown! See if you can beat our earth friendly =
challenge.
11am - 1:30pm, Mini Be-Kind-to-Our-Planet Expo, learn about indoor worm =
composting, fuel cell technology and much more!
Admission: $5 adults, $3 students and seniors, free for children under 6 =
years old. Free admission for members. Saturday activities are included =
with the cost of regular museum admission. Girl Scouts, wear your sash, =
vest or pin and you and your chaperone receive a 50% discount on =
admission!=20

to 5 pm =20

EXHIBITS
CLOSING: April 15th, Benjamin Franklin and the Lightning Rod. The =
exhibit uses original historical scientific instruments, rare books, =
sculptures, and portraits from the 1700s and 1800s to tell the story of =
Franklin's invention of the lightning rod.
CLOSING: April 30th, Look Closely - Portraits of Native Plants. A =
botanical art exhibition by Wendy Brockman.
OPENING: May 3rd, Kids Invent! An exhibition featuring the ingenious =
inventions made by participants in The Bakken's education programs. The =
exhibit runs from May 3, through September 2003.

Kids become inventors as they discover how things work through hands-on =
learning. These fun and exciting six-week sessions spark curiosity and =

Summer Science Day Camps
